Marthinus Johannes Carstens
Appraisement of the effects left by the intestate death of Marthinus
Johannes Carstens, Johannes Christians son, to his surviving widow Elizabeth
Hendrika Carstens, and to their children begotten in marriage named as follows,
viz
The property belonging to this estate, consisting as enumerated here below
having been appraised by Willem Andries Smit and Cornelis Theron

We the undersigned Johannes Christian Carstens, Johannes Chistian Thihard
married to Anna Catharina Carstens and Johannes Jacob Mosterd married to
Johanna Jacomina Carstens, major heirs in the estate of the late Marthinus
Johannes Carstens and suriving widow Elizabeth Hendrika Carstens do hereby
declare ourselves fully satisfied with the appraisement this day made by
commissioned Orphan Master of the property belonging to the said estate by
which it appears that a sum of Rd:s319:34 say three hundred and nineteen
rixdollars thirty four stuivers is due to each of us respectively for our
paternal portions of inheritance in the said estate. We further consent to our
mother the widow Carstens remaining in possession of the said estate and hereby
grant a full acquittal and discharge to the Orphan Chamber, according to law in
the amount of our several portions of inheritance releasing the Orphan Chamber
from all responsibility as to the same without any hesitation whatever.

certify that we have appraised the property belonging to the estate of the late
Marthinus Johannes Carstens and surviving widow Elizabeth Hendrika Carstens,
that we have no interest whatever therein and that the valuation of the said
estate is a just, proper and true valuation to the best of our skill and
knowledge to which we are prepared to make oath at any time when required so to
do.
