MOOC8/47.1 {18320818} 18 August 1832 Nicolaas Broekman Cape Town ƒ150 Sale 15 September 1832 Inventory of all such property as has been relinquished by the death of Nicolaas Broekman on the fourteenth day of the month of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two. The deceased having by his last will and testament executed by him on the 14 October 1829 before the Notary Rynier Beck and witnesses appointed to be his sole and universal heirs the children procreated in wedlock with his predeceased wife Christina Beyers, namely The deceased having further appointed the Board of Orphan Masters to be the executors of his last will and guardians of his minor children. In consequence whereof the undersigned commissioned members of the Board having proceeded to take an inventory of the estate found the same to consist as follows Household furniture in the dwelling house Memorandum an act is found in this estate passed by the deceased on the 25 Novemb: 1828 granting irrevocably to his sons Nicolaas George and Andries his wind mill with the burial place annexed and smiths shop, together with a wagon and eight horses, a piece of land and his slaves Philip and Fortuyn , but the said sons declare, as is witnessed by their signatures attached to this inventory that the aforesaid act is null and void, and that they have no claim whatever to the gifts mentioned in the said act, renouncing the same therefore in favor of the estate. Thus done and inventoried at the place aforesaid on the 18 of August 1832 according to a statement made by the aforesaid heirs who declared to have acted herein bonafide and that to the best of their knowledge they have not withheld or secreted any thing that belonged to the aforesaid estate, and the said appearers further declared that they are and will at all times be ready to confirm their statement by solemn oath if required, promising at the same time that if after the date of these presents any property belonging to the aforesaid estate may be discovered they will faithfully communicate it to the Orphan Chamber in order to amplify this inventory with the property so discovered.
