Exh:d the 1 September 1829 n:o 16 Gentlemen We the undersigned commiss:d Members beg leave to report That we have in compliance with the Board’s direction of the 29 Octob: 1828 repaired on this day to the store of Mr E: George in order to cause the book debts of the late firm of Edward George and Andrew Mather to be valued as stated in the agreement entered into by the parties on the 28 of April 1828 which was effected accordingly by the auctioneer John Blare on the part of the Board and W: Parker the book keeper of the firm on the other part. That on that occasion it was stated by E: George that the amount of Rd:s4864:33 1/2 which was stated in Mr Watermeyers report to be the exact balance due by him E: George to the late A: Mather and pointed out in the account current n: 6 made up by Mr Parker has been acknowledged in the supposition that the debts which were placed on the list as good debts vide list n: 7 amounting to Rd:s12711:1 for which credit has been given in the balance sheet n: 9 were actually good. That he the said George however in collecting the best part of the same to the amount of Rd:s8810 found a difference of Rd:s72:4:4 on said sum arrising from several causes, viz:t according to specificq list submitted to the undersigned Commssion as l:a a: That he the said George in consequence has submitted the remainder further part of the list n:o 7 amounting to Rd:s3900:4:4 which had been supposed to be good for valuation, and that the same has been valued for no more than Rd:s3435:4 as per list hereunto annexed n: 13 so that from the sum of Rd:s4864:33 1/2 is to be deducted Rd:s268:6:4 which will bring the amount to Rd:s4595:41. As to the list n: 10 of outstanding debts supposed to be doubtful amounting to Rd:s2979:46 the said George submitted to us the undersigned Commiss: a list l:a 6 of sums collected, to the amount of Rd:s748:6:3 since the list n:10 had been made out, while the remainder part of said list Rd:s2231:1:1 has been valued at a sum of Rd:s743:5:4 according to the list l:a D: That respecting the list n: 11 amounting to Rd:s5009:1 supposed to be bad Mr George as well as both appraisers have possitively declared that this list was not recoverable at all, and that therefore not subject to a valuation. Said George has however stated and declared that he will do his utmost indeavours to collect, what could be collected and will bind himself faithfully to account to the Board the sums which will be so recovered by him.
