MOOC8/44.4a {18270302} 2 March 1827 Maria Wilhelmina de Waal Inventory of all such property relinquished by the death of Maria Wilhelmina de Waal widow of the late John Pigolt Watney which happened on the twenty seventh day of the month of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven. The deceased having by her last will and testament executed at Wynberg before seven witnesses on the 25:th February 1827 appointed as her sole and universal heirs her two children named Peter Watney and Maria Josina Christina Watney born on the [ ..... ] November in the year 1807, the portion of the firstmentioned with fidei commis as more fully appears in said will and has appointed the worshipful Board of Orphan Masters of this Colony to be and to act as her executors. In consequence of which the aforesaid property /:after the seals had been removed:/ was duly inventoried by the undersigned special Commissioners from the Orphan Board and was found to consist in the following, viz:t In the house of Mrs Rowles occupied by the deceased Thus inventoried at the Cape of Good Hope in the house aforesaid on the 1:st and second day of the month of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven according to a statement made by Messr:s Kekewich, Bletterman and Peter Watney who declared to have acted herein bonafide and that to the best of their knowledge they have not withheld or secreted any thing that belonged to the aforesaid estate and the said appearers further declared that they are and will at all times be ready and willing to confirm their statement by solemn oath if required, promising at the same time that if after the date of these presents any property of this estate might be discovered shall and will faithfully communicate it to the Orphan Chamber in order to amplify this inventory with the property so discovered. 7 Aprila place annex the aforesaid place Klapmuts situated in the district of Stellenbosch as per deed of transfer dated the 11:th June 1819 occupied by Mr Peter Watney who has the right according to a verbal agreement between the deceased and the said Mr Watney to retain the place for the sum of ƒ50000
 a place called Slangekop situated in Zwartland with the right on certain land called Klipfontein surrounding the said place granted to the deceased’s husband for a term of twenty eight years calculated from [ ..... ]
