MOOC8/41.57 {18260113} 13 January 1826 John Cochrane H: Somerset Inventory of all such effects and goods as are belonging to the estate of John Cochrane died on the 3:d June 1826 without a will the effects and property being returned to the undersigned agent by the under sheriff at this place At the quarters occupied by the deceased in the prison establishment to which he was attached It is also put down that the deceased at the sequestrator’s sale held the 4:th Nov:r 1825 bought a house and premises situated in this place, but that by a private document signed by him it appears he merely gave his name to the transaction and that the property actually belongs to John Etchells The deceased was about 39 years by his discharge The said Etchells hereby declare to have bonafide returned the property mentioned herein and to the best of his knowledge and belief promising should it be discovered that there is still property belonging to this estate, he shall give notice thereof and that he is at all times ready to make oath for the truth of this return. Thus done in Uitenhage on the [ ..... ] June 1826.
