MOOC8/40.17 {18250718} 18 July 1825 Richard Chicheley Plowden Inventory of the property of Richard Chicheley Plowden Esquire in the Honorable East India Company’s civil service husband of Missis Sophia Fleming with whom he has in lawful marriage procreated the following children, viz:t The said property having been relinquished by him the deceased ab intestato on the fourteenth day of the month of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five, for the benefit of his heirs at law, and taken under the administration of the Board of Orphan Masters of this colony in behalf of the said heirs, and been inventoried (after the seals of the office has been removed) by the undersigned special Commissioners of the Board aforesaid, was found to consist in the following, viz:t The greatest part of said three bills appears to be drawn for Thus done and inventoried at the Cape of Good Hope on the eightteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five according to a statement made by Mr John Bagshaw who declared to have acted herein bonafide and that to the best of his knowledge he has not withheld or secreted ant thing belonged to the aforesaid estate, and the appearer further declared, that he is and will at all times be ready and willing to confirm his statement by solemn oath if required, promising at the same time that if after the date of these presents any property of this estate might be discoverd shall faithfully communicate it to the Orphan Chamber in order to amplify this inventory with the property so discovered In witness whereof we the Commissioners together with the appearer and the Secretary have subscribed to these presents As Commissioners: G:E: Overbeek, A: Kuys John Bagshaw In my presence: J:J:L: Smuts Ampliation The undersigned do acknowledge by these presents to have received from the Orphan Chamber the abovementioned fourteen gold moors and sixteen gold half moors Cape of Good Hope this 18:th July 1825 Sophia Plowden R: n: 2534 Duplicate 1:st Sv Jameisine, 2:nd Sv D:ss of Athol R:C: Plowden Esq: care of Messr: Tho:s Dent and C:o Canton Calcutta , 2:nd July 1824 Dear sir, Accompanying we have the pleasure to forward your Account Current for the past year, exhibiting a balance in your favour on the 30th April of Sicca Rupees 1,01,890 we hope that the Account will be found correct and satisfactory; and that you will be pleased to sign and return the subjoined acknowledgment of its being so, or if you prefer it, we shall consider our not hearing from you to the contrary in due course, as an admission of the correctness of the Account.
