English translation
As the Hottentot Captain Doreas, known to us as Claas, had made known to the Honourable Governor how nine cattle had been exchanged with the Hottentots over the mountains by the French or Waldensians, among his own, and that this nation was continuing its work of exchanging with the Hottentots in such a way that they at least had more cattle than the Imperial Company. This is why it was so practicable to combat these irregularities as a cause leading to considerable prejudice against the Imperial Company. The Governor and this E.A. Council have resolved to order the provisional fiscal to rigorously implement the edicts issued against the counter-venteurs in this regard. And to present the aforementioned Captain Claas, for his loyalty to the E.Company shown in this matter, with the aforementioned nine cattle and a few small items, namely a sack of flour, a tub of rice, and some arrack and tobacco, etc.
It has also been further resolved to grant the Companion's servants who served with the first return fleet to the Netherlands in 1692 and at the behest of their High Court. the Gentlemen Directors at the Chamber in Amsterdam had been transferred to the soil of Sirjandsland in Tessel, and on 19 April ao. Passado landed here again, and which were learned at the call of the provisional fiscal and subsequently locked up,119 to work ad opus publicum for a certain period without pay, at their humble supplications and prayers, and repeatedly to gain their relaxation, done in consideration of the long journey, and that now they should have spent approximately a year in the chain, to restore their former capacity and pay and to form the militia in the usual and proper manner.120
Thus done, arrested and confined in the Castle of Good Hope on the date as above.
