A certain statement of the 13th of this month having been read and examined by the meeting, issued by the aforementioned skippers,108 which, together with the chief shipwrights of the said ships, is to the order of the Noble The Lord Governor in loco had been commissioned to visit and inspect the frigate Stantvasticheijt, which on the morning of 10 June 1909 of that year had come aground off the South River due to a tremendous storm and heavy thunderstorm, and subsequently on 20 October, as a result of exertion and hard work, as well as by chance a high tide, had become adrift again and been brought to this beach, where this E.Achtb. It had become apparent that in the space between the after and the fore bulkhead at the backboard, four sills had been broken, and in the neck, six knees. In addition, there were three sills at the bullboard, twelve knees, and likewise, in the driving chamber, four knees at the backboard at the bullboard, as well as a knee at the front of the backboard at the backboard, and finally, a very large leak at the back of the peak. In consideration of the aforementioned breaks and other defects in this bottom, it had been deemed by their people to be of no further use to the E. Company, and that the repairs to it were inadvisable, and that the subsequent work should be demolished. However, before accessing it, the Ede... The Lord Governor considered the whole matter reasonable, assuming the aforementioned skippers in his Council would further consider this matter in the best interest of the Dutch East Indies Company. He further considered that, although all the necessary repairs and carpentry were required, this foundation would not be able to cover these costs, not only because this cannot be done here in the Taeffelbhaaij, but also because we lack the necessary materials and other tools. The same applies to the Dutch East Indies. The Lord Governor and this Honourable Combined Council having further considered and considered the matter, so that the demolition of this aforementioned frigate would not appear to be too hasty. It was unanimously resolved in the Council and decided to decommission this aforementioned frigate until the sentiment and order of the high government in Batavia had been obtained, so that we could subsequently conduct ourselves all the more securely in this matter.
Thus arrested and decided in the Castle of Good Hope on the day and year as above.
