English translation

In the presence of all the members, Lieutenant Adriaen van Rheede, assuming the position of the E.E. Commander and Vice Commander, Rear Admiral, Fiscal, along with other skippers and chiefs, both the present Batavian and Ceylonian returning ships, deposed.

The Noble Lord Governor, having further demonstrated in Council how, in accordance with the last resolution adopted on the 25th of March, the present Batavian return fleet was fully prepared on the 5th of this month to continue its journey to the homeland, which, while now awaiting a favorable wind, the returning Ceylonian ships set sail for this port on the 7th. And given that the aforementioned resolution also entailed that it would also happen that the Ceylon ships had appeared here beforehand on the aforementioned April 5th, that the departure of this fleet would be extended for a day or so, in order to bring it into a state of voyage during the day and night, so that they could together undertake their journey from this port to the homeland, further and further along the same. And previously, an agreement had been made that these Ceylon ships would also be able to be in a state of readiness at the aforementioned stipulated time, provided that all assistance, both by boats and otherwise, from the present return fleet, was rendered to them. This is what His Honor... and this combined E.A. Council having considered the matter more closely, and having considered it, while the wind also remained contrary and their high regard was greatly placed on the preserved arrival of so many valuable ships in these times of war, and in order that the same might be all the more formidable and secure against all enemy attacks (for which prayers continue to be offered to the Almighty to graciously protect the same), to the greatest advantage and benefit of the E.A. Company, unanimously approved and decided these Ceylon ships with all due diligence and thoughtful care. to have the voyage brought to a state of progress within six days, day and night, and that to continue the work, the Batavians would not only assist the Ceylon ships each with two boats, but also provide all other assistance so that, once they were thus prepared, they would, in conjunction with the others (weather and wind permitting), immediately turn their bows towards our dear fatherland on the 15th of this month.

Thus arrested and confined in the Castle of Good Hope on the day and year as above.
