Your Honor. The Lord Governor, upon the remonstrance of the chiefs of the flute stationed here, Emmenes, in Council, proposed that the lowermost finger of the stern of the sailed bottom, where most of the rudder's power and force resides, was broken: and that, consequently, the danger of an overcoming storm and thunderstorm could be of such great weight that it would be irresponsible for us to allow this bottom to continue its journey to Batavia in that condition: whereupon, after previous deliberation of matters, the written certification of the present skippers and ship's carpenters, dated as above, was also taken into account in Council, and further considered what was most useful to prevent the threatened great damage that the Lords our Principals there from the further journey might become apparent: It has been unanimously understood and decided that, since the repairs to be made here in the Tafelbhaij could not be carried out, that bottom should be assisted, together with some of our chariots, to proceed to the Saldaignebhaij, with orders to the chiefs of that ship to exercise all due diligence, to hasten the work, and to lose no time, provided that the unloading of the goods is managed as much as possible, except the wet goods, so that the E.Comp. that no further damage may be suffered and that such materials as will be required for this purpose must be supplemented; and that in the meantime, before his departure, the necessary cash in India, in addition to the domestic letters addressed to the high government there, will be transferred and handed over to the yacht Spaar and Oosthuijsen stationed here, so that it can reach its Highness Edlns at Bata all the sooner.
Thus arrested and confined in the Castle of Good Hope, on the date and year as above.

De Edle. Heer Gouverneur op de remonstrantie van de opperhoofden van de alhier ter rhede leggende fluijt, Emmenes , in Rade voorstellende dat de onderste vingerlingh van de agtersteven der geseijde bodem, waar in de meeste cragt en dwangh van ‘t roer bestaat, gebroken was: en dat oversulcx het gevaar bij overcoment storm en onweer van een sodanigh groot gewigte soude connen sijn, dat ‘t voor ons onverantwoordelijk soude wesen desen bodem in die staat sijn vordere reijse na Batavia te laten voortgaan: waar op in Rade na voorgaande overlegh van saken ook mede geleth op de schriftelijke certificatie van de aanwesende schippers en scheepstimmerluijden in dato als boven, en daar op genomen deliberatie ende wijders geconsidereert het geene dienstigst was tot verhoedinge van de gedreijgde grote schade, die de Heeren onse Principalen daar uijt op de vordere reijse mogte becomen: Soo is eenpaarlijk verstaan en besloten, dewijl de reparatie daaraan te doen alhier in de Tafelbhaij niet conde werden verrigt, dien bodem geassisteert, beneffens eenige onser chaloupen na de Saldaignebhaij te laten afgaan, met bevel aan de opperhoofden van dien, om alle bedenklijke naarstigheijt aan te wenden, met het werk te spoedigen, en geen tijd te versuijmen, mitsgrs. het ontlossen der goederen soo veel doenlijk is te menagieeren, sonderlingh de natte waren, op dat d’ E.Comp. daar bij geen verder schade magh comen te lijden ende deselve daartoe te suppediteeren sodanige materialen als daar toe sullen werden vereijst: en dat men inmiddels voor desselfs vertrek de contanten in India soo hoogh nodigh nevens de vaderlandse brieven, gerigt aan de hoge regeringe aldaar, daar uijt sal doen ligten en aan het alhier ter rhede leggende jagt Spaar , en Oosthuijsen over geven, omme deselve haar hoogh Edlns. tot Bata. des te spoediger te doen gewerden.
Aldus g’arresteert en besloten in ‘t Casteel de Goede Hoop, ten dage en jare als boven.
