English translation

In the presence of all the members, assumption of the EE. Commander and Vice Commander, provided that: d' EE. Jacobus Urselings,41 rear admiral, and Barend Caaskoper,42 merchants and other skippers of the returning return ships Nigtevegt, Nieuwland, Jtershem and Agatha.

D'Ed. Mr. Having nominated and consulted with the Governor at the meeting, the best way to proceed with the departure of the returning Batavian return ships of the second shipment, and in this case, it is most favorably done to the benefit of the E.Comp. what he ought to do or not do, considering that the season is very far gone, winter is approaching, the homeward journey north of Scotland is perilous, and that it is all too perilous to let the arriving Batavian ships wait for the expected Ceylon and other return ships at the expense of the Admiralty and on an uncertain footing, since we have not received the slightest knowledge of them from India, and that their arrival is not assured, also that it could well happen that they might have missed this African outpost by storm and other inconveniences; Therefore, after careful consultation and a unanimous vote, it is largely in the service of the Admiralty, as well as their Ed. Great Eighth Batavia did not give us any explicit orders regarding the Ceylon return ships, but did instruct us in its letter of February 6th last year,43 to have the Batavian return ships of the second order depart by the 15th of this month at the latest, or as soon as possible. This, however, could not be done in time due to their late arrival. It has been unanimously approved and decided that the Batavian return ships present will be sent as soon as possible, and at the latest by June 2nd or 3rd (God's wind and weather permitting) to continue the journey to the homeland without the slightest delay, but with the understanding that if a Ceylon ship or ships should appear here in the meantime, they will be dispatched with all reasonable haste, day and night. attempted to prepare in six or seven days' time, so that she could continue her journey to the homeland under the flag of E. Jan Speelman, Commander of the aforementioned Batavian return ships, and other delegates.44

Thus arrested and confined in the Castle of Good Hope on the date and year as above.
