English translation

In the presence of all the members.

Dorhâ, head of the Sousequa Hottentots, known to us as Captain Claas, who, during the march against him in July of last year,10 along with his brother-in-law Leendert and other ringleaders, fell alive into the hands of the Eastern Company. His people were scattered and most of their cattle captured, and partly the Eastern Company, along with the Hottentot Captain Coopman, became plunder, and he, along with his aforementioned brother-in-law, along with the Hottentots Cruijdop and Jantje Spring in 't Veld, have since then been in hiding here at the Castle and have been taken by the Company. having been brought to his senses and subdued, one no longer has to fear any harm from him or his followers, as his subjects, for the most part, with their wife and children, have submitted to the obedience of Captain Coopman, against whom Captain Claas had been at war for some time, and finally for no other reason than that he was loyal to the E.C.O. and steadfast in his interests, and since it was found that Captain Claas had not directly committed any offense against the E.C.O., also that in the expedition recently undertaken against him, no Christian blood was shed, nor was the slightest damage suffered by the E.C.O. or these inhabitants. Thus, after due consultation, it has been approved and largely in the interest of the E.C.O. and the peace of these inhabitants have decided to cease all further hostilities and proceedings against the aforementioned Captain Claas and his followers, and to send him, in good health, along with his brother-in-law Leendert, to Robben Island, and to let them remain there until it is determined that they are of more humble mind, and their supporters have become more lenient and reduced in number and power. Kruijdop and Jantje Spring in the aforementioned Veld will be released, on the condition that they behave well and reasonably towards the Electoral Corps, and lie down under the obedience of Captain Coopman and in his cell, on pain of being punished exemplarily if they do otherwise.11
