English translation

In the presence of all the members.

Mr. C. J. Simons, fiscal, this Government's nominee, having exhibited certain documents to the meeting, accusing Pieter Claasz Snel, skipper of the ship IJtersheim, anchored here at the port, in the service of the Royal Netherlands Navy, of negligence and various misdemeanors committed on board during its voyage between the homeland and this remote area. It was unanimously decided that time was too short to properly deal with the matter, and that the Navy's ships could not be detained without jeopardizing its interests, and that these were primarily in the service of the Royal Netherlands Navy. It was decided to send the aforementioned skipper, Pieter Claasz Snel, off duty and on wages to Batavia with the ship Waddingsveen, along with the documents against which he is charged, to answer for himself there where it is appropriate: he will pay the costs incurred in his behalf, at the discretion of the Honourable Governor and Council here.

And finally, it was agreed that Sijbert Carstensz, skipper in the service of the E.Comp., on the present yacht Tambour, will transfer to the ship IJtersheim in the aforementioned place of Pieter Claasz Snel, and sail with her as skipper to Batavia.65

Thus arrested and confined in the Castle of Good Hope at the date and year as above.
