The Honorable Commander having announced to the meeting how the galley "De Noord" had sailed at the beginning of this year to make one more voyage to the eastern coast of Africa, in order to recover the remainder of the crew of the stranded "Float Stavenisse" and to discover the "Bhaij de la Goa," however, this undertaking has been thwarted by the war that the King of France has waged on his Ho. Mo. and it is inadvisable to send the aforementioned galley in such perilous times, and now offering himself a more suitable opportunity to resume the long-abandoned intention; Therefore, after due consultation, it is largely in the best interests of the Honorable Commander. unanimously approved and decided to no longer keep the galley Noord mentioned above ashore here, but to have it put to sea as soon as possible after it is equipped with a decent crew and all kinds of provisions and other necessities, and first to have it keelhauled and cleaned at the usual spot in Bhaij Falso, in order to continue its journey to Bhaij Natal without delay, in order, as has been said, to salvage the remains of the stranded people of Stavenisse and to attempt to recover from the chief of those lands the aforementioned Bhaij and some surrounding land for trade such as coral, copper and ironwork and whatever else may be of their liking, solemnly in writing and under due deed before the E. Comp. for sale.65
And should it happen that upon the arrival of the aforementioned galley in the Natal bay, the people of Stavenisse did not appear, and that the inhabitants of those lands were unwilling to give any sign or language of their presence, the galley would nevertheless sometimes and at the appropriate time fire a cannon shot to warn the people of Stavenisse, in case they should forget about it. The Africans would conceal the arrival of the galley from the people of Stavenisse with advance notice and attention. However, one must be careful not to frighten the inhabitants by such shooting, and by doing so make them averse to us. This could easily be attributed to the shooting for one reason or another, in order to allay all suspicion and suspicion.

D’ Ed.Heer Commandeur hebbende ter vergadering bekend gemaakt hoe ‘t galjot de Noord in den beginne deses jaars seil rede lag om nog een keer na d’ Oostelijke wal van Africa te doen, ten einde om ‘t overschot des volx van de gestrande fluijt Stavenisse te bergen en de bhaij de la Goa t’ ontdekken, dog dat dese onderneming door den oorlog dien de Koning van Vrankrijk haar Ho.Mo. is komen an te doen verijdeld en ongeraden zijnde in alsulke hachelijke tyden het voors. galjot te versenden, en thans sig bekwâmer gelegenheid erbiedende om ‘t duslang gestaakte voorneemen te hervatten; So is na rijpe raadspleging ten meesten dienste van d’ E.Comp. eenstemmig goedgevonden en beslôten het galjot de Noord meergemeld niet langer hier an de wal te houden, maar ‘t selve op ‘t spoedigste na dat ‘t van behoorlijke manschap en allerhande voorraad en verdere benodigheden sal voorsien zijn, zee te doen kiesen en eerstelijk in de Bhaij Falso ter gewoonlijke plaatse het te laaten kielhaalen en schoon te maaken, om daar van daan sonder tyd versuijm syn reis na de bhaij Natal te vervorderen, ten einde om gelijk gesegt is ‘t overschot van ‘t gestrande volk van Stavenisse te bergen en te tragten van ‘t opperhoofd dier landen de voors. bhaij en enig omleggend land tegens koopmanschappen als corallen, koper en ijserwerk en wes meer van hun gading is, plegtelijk bij geschrivte en onder behoorlijke acte voor d’ E.Comp. te koopen.65
En of ‘t geviel dat bij d’ ankomst van ‘t voorn. galjot in de bhaij Natal het volk van Stavenisse niet ten voorschyn kwam, en dat d’ inwooners dier landen geen taal of teken meer van haar verblijv wusten te geven, so sal egter het galjot somwijlen en ter gelegener tyd een Canon-schoot doen, om daar door ‘t volk van Stavenisse te waarschuwen, ingeval ‘t sig daar omtrent mogte onthouden, en dat de Africanen met voordagt en opset d’ ankomst van ‘t galjot an ‘t volk van Stavenisse verhoolen hielden, dog dat men verdagt sal moeten zijn door alsulk schieten d’ inwooners geen schrik an te jagen, en haar door ‘t selve afkerig van ons te maken, konnende ligtelijk wegens het schieten dese of gene reden voorgewend worden om daar door alle agterdogt en kwaad vermoeden te beneemen.
Verders is verstaan dat ‘t galjot meergemeld in de bhaij Natal en naadstgelegene landen alle voordeelen van koopmanschappen en gewassen en ‘t gunt enigsins soude konnen dienen en d’ E.Comp. te stade komen angemerkt, en alles gelijk geseid is, verrigt hebbende, sal ‘t selve de wal herward an langs loopen en met alle bedenkelijke vlijt de bhaij de la Goa tragten t’ ontdekken en desselvs gronden te peilen, en te sien of-se niet voor ‘s Comps. retourschepen bekwaam soude zijn, en te letten of voor desselvs mond een ronde sandplaat legt, dewelke in der Portugiesen caart bekend staat, en vervolgens an land bij ‘t opperhoofd of inwooners van dien, deselve voorsienigheid omtrent ‘t bergen van ‘t volk van Stavenisse te gebruijken, en deselve sorge te dragen nopende ‘t koopen van die bhaij met den ankleven van dien, so en als ‘t haar gelast is te doen omtrent de bhaij Natal .
En eijndelijk is verstaan en goedgevonden, om in tyds voor te komen de grove uijtsporigheden en overdaad dewelke bij ‘s Comps. dienaren en dese vrije ingesetenen in weerwil der placcaten66 gepleegd worden in ‘s Comps bosch omtrent ‘t kappen van allerhande timmer en brandhout, onangesien dat hun ten dien einde an den Steenberg een bekwame plaats angeweesen is, den baas houtkapper Jan Voslo, onverminderd ‘t regt van fiscal en landdrost te stellen als opsiender over ‘t voors. Comps. bosch, en hem te gemagtigen om te bekeuren en in boete te slaan alle diegenen, dewelke hij sonder uijtdrukkelijk en schrivtelijk verlov in ‘t meergemelde bosch sal betrappen enig hout, hoe gering het ook zij, te kappen of te vervoeren, sullende t’ sijnen profijte de gestelde geldboete tegens diergelijke overtreders, na gedaane calange, geappliceerd en ten dien einde hem ook alle houtbrievjes in ‘t toekomende ter hand gesteld worden.67
