English translation

Presentibus omnibus demptis d’E. de Man, Chavonnes and Roodestein.

It has been unanimously agreed that the sum of 100 euros for Ceylon should be deposited here on the ship Nederland, and that that ship, without waiting any longer for the Handboog, should sail to Batavia as soon as possible, especially since the ship Zalland is expected here shortly, and it is feared that the Handboog has been lost.

The Honorable Commander complained in Council about the negligence of the cashier L. van der Stel regarding the payment of the monthly accounts, very seriously warning him for the last time of his service in the matter mentioned above. to consider better things in the future, and not to dare to receive any more money from the Comps. treasury, outside of written order from him, Commander, as the cashier recently did by receiving food and drink from the hands of Admiral Wouter Zeeman,[35] for the slaves and female slaves he had permitted to take back to the homeland.

Furthermore, His Eminence announced in Council how, in view of the desired and complete exchange recently made by the Inquisitive Hottentots,[36] he had consulted the Comps. on the grounds of the exchanged cattle, to honor each of the Councilors in that area with one sheep, and to donate two sheep to each of them, each with their own money. His Eminence also stated. the aforementioned meeting made it known how the king of the Inguahase Hottentots had been pleased to send him a gift of ten cows.
