English translation

Eadem die praesentibus ijsdem.

To the Hon. Hr. Commendeur, the petition of the Misses Cornelia van Nieuwenrode, wife of Mr. and Mrs. Jan Bitter, and Hillegonda Dubbeldekop, widow of the late Cornelis Cnol, mother and daughter-in-law, having been handed to the Hon. Hr. Commendeur in a meeting by the merchant Mierop, in which they state that they are afflicted by God with such an illness and are unable to continue their journey to their homeland, requesting to be inspected by commissioners and to be permitted to remain here until the arrival of the return ships yet to come, in the hope that they will then be able, by God's grace, to continue their journey; Having deliberated and thoroughly consulted, it has been decided to have both petitioners examined by commissioned physicians, both on the return trip and here ashore, and to inform them of the disease's severity, and to report to the Honorable Commendatore and Council.

Thus arrested and decided in the Castle of Good Hope at the date and year as above.
