In the presence of all the members except Srs. van Keulen and Van der Stel.
The Honorable Commendatore reported to the meeting how a group of serfs belonging to this resident, numbering ten or twelve, had supported the free black Sante, provided. Michel, slave of the free citizen Jan Stevensz Botma, both natives of Sant Jago, to throw up to their heads, and with unbridled audacity to their feet and armed hand to burst forth landward in the face of harsh words and fierce deeds, with such firmness of their resolve and resolve, that 'it was destined that they would assail us at night and at the wrong time, and lay one house after another to ashes and deprive the inhabitants of life and blood: Thus it was decided with common consent to strangle the misconduct of this uprising in the cradle, and not to let the fire of mutiny spread any further, and to prevent this disastrous conspiracy and cursed alliance from gaining more traction, the aforementioned Sante beside the to declare slave Michel an outlaw by placca[a] and to order every resident of this castle, whether the Company's servant or free citizen, to prosecute and apprehend them as much as possible after due opportunity, with the promise that whoever delivers one of the two or both of them alive into custody at this castle will receive twenty-five rixd. for each, and fifteen rixd. in case one or both of them commit an offense, as a reward; simultaneously ordering that every man, without hesitation, shoot in the head any other rotten and runaway slaves who might resist her and who do not willingly and conscientiously surrender themselves as prisoners, and to assist them as best as possible.109
Thus arrested and decreed in the Castle of Good Hope at the date and year as above.

D’ Ed. Hr. Commendeur ter vergadering verslag doende hoe een partije lijfeigene desen ingesetenen toebehorende, ten getal van thien of twaalf, onderstaan hadden den vrij swart Sante, mitsgs. Michel, slaav des vrijburgers Jan Stevensz Botma, beide van Sant Jago geboortig, tot hun hoofden op te werpen, en met breidelloose vermetelheid op de been gestegen en gewapenderhand landwards in getegen tot arre woorden en felle werken teffens uijt te barsten, met sulk een stevigheid huns opsets en voornêmens, dat ‘ter geschapen stond sij bij nagt en ten ontijde ons bestooken, en het eene huijs voor en het andere naar in d’ assche leggen en d’ inwoonders goed en bloed ontschaken souden: So is met gemeen goed-dunken beslôten om de misdragt deser opstant in de wiege te worgen, en ‘t vuur der muijterie niet verder te laten voortslaan, en te beletten dat dit heilloos gespan en vloekverwandschap geen meerder sleep an sijn koorde krijgt, d’ opgemelte Sante nevens den slaav Michel voors. bij placca[a]t vogelvrij te verklaren en een ieder deser ingesetenente gelasten108 , hij sij ‘s Comps. dienaar of vrijburger, na tijds gelegenheid hun soveel mogelijk sal zijn te vervolgen en t’ agterhalen, met belovte dat diegene, die een van beide of beide te gelijk levend in hegtenis ten desen Castêle leverd, vijfentwintig Rixd. voor ieder, en vijfthien Rixd., ingeval een of beide doorschiet, tot belôning sal genieten; bevelende te gelijk dat ieder man sonder schroom de verdere t’ samen gerotte en weg-gelopene slaven, die haar souden mogen te weer stellen, en sig niet goedwillig en met gemoede gevangen geven, voor den kop schiete en so best kan van kant helpe.109
