English translation
The letter from the chiefs of the ship Sion, written from the Saldaignebhaij to the Honorable Commendatore on the 19th of this month, having been read at the meeting, was unanimously agreed upon and, in the interest of the Honorable Commendatore, approved to grant and allow access to this ship, provided that it is sufficiently supplied with fresh water, firewood, and other necessities according to his own letters, and because he has no goods for this Commendation and is still laden with sick, he may continue his journey to Batavia as soon as possible without stopping at this ship.
It was also agreed to the chiefs of the village of Leeuwenberg, in addition to the aforementioned ship Sion, anchored in the Saldaigne-bhaij, to write very seriously,22 that they will have to use good seamanship to get there, and not to neglect weather or wind to put to sea, and try to get there on one or the other tack, and try to help us out of our embarrassment with their loaded goods.23
Thus arrested and confined in the Castle of Good Hope, year and day as above.
