English translation

In the presence of all the members except Oelof Berg.

The Reverend Commendatore, having considered and presented in Council the large number of criminals arrested here at the Castle for these and other crimes, and that likely others are also involved in the same crimes, so that it is to be feared that in short, insufficient prisons would still be available for their protection if they were to intervene in time.

Therefore, for the protection and reassurance of the common good, it was unanimously deemed essential, and it was decided to reinforce this garrison with twenty men from the ship Zalland, which is moored here, with the understanding that if they deem it no longer necessary, they will be sent immediately to India.

And since Jambi is about to be led into the slave trade in Madagascar,4 and that for this purpose round, weighty, and well-stamped Mexican pieces of eight are needed, it has been decided to levy two thousand of them from the aforementioned cargo of Zalland, and to open the aforementioned invoice for this purpose, and to have an equal number of pieces of eight counted from the Comps. cashier in its place.5

Thus arrested and confined in the Castle of Good Hope, for the year and day as above.
