Praesentibus Doo Bevere reliquisque orbus. excepto Lud. van der Stel.
The Lord of Bevere Stevelshoek,21 Extraordinary Councillor of India, having seen and considered her Ed. Achtb. order of the Chambers of Amsterdam and Hoorn contained in their latest letter of January 2 of this year,22 in view of the strong inditiates and vehement suspissions which had occurred to her, that some private goods, possibly also some drinkables, had been shipped on board the ship Honsholredijk, equipped with the Chamber of Hoorn and currently sailing in Texel; and therefore her Ed. Achtb. it had indeed been thought that that bottom would be unloaded for investigation purposes, but that the dangers that an easterly wind and rapid ice drift could cause had made them abandon that intention, and in accordance with the E. Comp's orders to the E.Hr. Commander and Eighth Council here to write by mail to the ships Oosterland and Jambij and order them to inform them precisely of the true state of affairs upon the arrival of the aforementioned ship at the Cape, and to arrange for a partial unloading after a reasonable time; therefore, his good pleasure. Ed. in consideration of his duty, the aforementioned. in Council stating: Thus it has been unanimously approved and decided that the aforesaid ship Honsholredijk, considering that upon receipt of these orders by the fiscal and the commissioners, it has been inspected as much as possible and that nothing improper has been found there, and that it was provided for, fully loaded and in good order, in addition to which it was not without great delay of time and considerable damage to its cargo, great expense, and obvious danger that the merchants, the lighters and the ship itself have to encounter in this N.W. monsoon during the daily expected hard storms; and that, beyond that, it could be inspected at Batavia with greater skill and less harm or danger, primarily in the service of the E.C.O., without any delay after its officers, both high and low, will declare under oath before the fiscal that they were unaware that the same contained even the slightest contraband goods or goods, contrary to the E.C.O.'s orders, to allow its journey to Batavia to proceed and, in so doing, to write to the High Government of India regarding this matter.
Furthermore, taking into consideration the request of the ambassadors of the King of Siam to those of Portugal, now here by a miserable shipwreck, after having suffered many disasters and dangers, destitute and robbed in England, and moved by Christian compassion and because of the good intelligence that exists between the King of Siam and the Eurasian Company, it has been resolved, in the respect of our Lords and Masters and their Queen, to show the same, according to the law of all nations, due courtesy and a good reception, and to have the requested thousand rixd. counted to her from the Eurasian coffers, and as a gift to the same from the warehouse some allegiances and other small items for clothing, provided. to provide the means of subsistence during their stay here, including a proper account in the expense accounts,24 whereby what they have enjoyed here may be evident at all times.
Thus done and recorded in the Castle of Good Hope, for the year and day as above.

Achtb. ordres ter Kameren Amsterdam en Hoorn in derselver jongstes schrijven van den 2 Januarij deses jaars vervat,22 ten ansien van de kragtige inditien en vehemente suspitien haar voorgekomen, als soude in ‘t schip Honsholredijk bij de Kamer van Hoorn geëquipeerd en doenmaals in Texel seilrede leggende, enige particuliere goederen, mogelijk mede enige drinckwaren zijn ingescheept: en dierhalven haar Ed. Achtb. gedaghten wel waren geweest dien bodem tot uijt vorsching van ‘t selve t’ ontladen, dog dat de gevaren die een oostlijke wind en spoedigen ijsgang konden veroorsaken, haar van dat voornemen hadden doen afsien, en in gevolge van d’ E. Comps. ordres an der E.Hr. Commandeur en Achtb. Raad alhier per de schepen Oosterland en Jambij te schrijven en te beveelen om, bij ankomste van ‘t voors. schip an de Caap, haar nauwkeurig van de waare beschapenheid deser saack t’ onderreghten en na gelegentheid van tijd ‘t selve voor een gedeelte te doen ontladen; dierhalven sijn welgemte. Edt. in betraghting sijner plight ‘t voors. in Raade te kennen gevende: So is eenpaarlijk goedgevonden en besloten ‘t opgemelte schip Honsholredijk , angesien ‘t selve op den ontfang deser beveelen door den fiscâl en gecommitteerdens, soo veel immers mogelijk gevisiteerd en daar in niet onbehoorlijx gevonden is, en dat ‘t van alles voorsien, vol-laden en seilrede lag, daarbenevens dat ‘t niet sonder groot verlet van tijd en mercklijke schade van desselfs lading, grote onkosten, en klaarblijkelijk gevaar die de koopmanschappen, de ligters en ‘t schip selvs, in dit N.Wte. mousson bij daaghlijx verwaghte harde stormen hebben te lopen; en dat ‘t buijten dien met meerder bekwaamheid en minder verlet of gevaar op Batavia kan gevisiteerd werden, ten meesten dienste van d’ E.Comp., sonder enigen uijtstel na dat desselvs so hoghe als lage officieren voor gecommitteerdens, ten overstaan van den fiscâl bij eede sullen verklaard hebben, niet te weten dat in ‘t selve enige de minste contrabande goederen off wahren, strijdig met der E.Comps. ordres geladen zijn, te laten sijn reis na Batavia vervorderen en met ‘t selve an de Hoghe regeringh van India omtrent dit stuck plightschuldig te schrijven.
Verders in consideratie genomen zijnde ‘t versoeck van d’ ambassadeurs des Koninghs van Siam an die van Portugal , thans alhier door een deerlijke schipbreuck, na geledene veelvoudige rampen en gevaren, beroijt en beroovt angeland, en door Christelijk meedogentheid en wegens de goede intelligentie die tus[s]chen den Koning van Siam en d’ E. Comp. is, bewoogen, So is geresolveerd ten respecte van onse Heeren en Meesteren en hares Koninghs an deselve volgens aller volkeren reght behoorlijke beleevtheden en goed onthaal bewijsen en an haar23 de versogte duijsent Rixd. uijt Comps. cassa te doen tellen, en tot geschenck an deselve uijt ‘t packhuijs enige allegies en verdere kleinigheden tot kleding, mitsgs. de levensmiddelen ten tijde hares verblijvs alhier onder een behoorlijke rekening in d’ onkostboeckente geven,24 waarbij ten allen tijde ‘t gene alhier genoten hebben mag blijken.
Aldus gedaan en gearresteerd in ‘t Casteel de Goede Hoop, jaar en dag als boven.
