The Lord Commander den Raat having been convened, assisted by the respective skippers of the present Ceylon return ships, in which his E. comes to imagine how one had hitherto waited in vain for the return fleet from Batavia, which one had daily expected and up to now had not seemed to undertake the voyage to Patria combined with that from Ceylon, and seeing that the usual time has now so far been broken, without any appearance that the Batavian ships will appear, It was unanimously approved of the aforementioned. To allow return ships with the first good wind to continue their journey in God's name to the Fatherland, without delaying them any longer after that of Batavia.
Thus resolved at the Castle of Good Hope, date 1870.

Den Heer Commandeur den Raat hebbende doen convoceeren, geassisteert met de respective schippers van de aenwesende Ceylonse retourscheepen, waer in sijn E. komt voor te stellen hoe dat men tot noch toe te vergeefs hadde gewacht nae de retourvlooth van Batavia, die men dagelijcx heeft te gemoet gesien en tot noch toe niet te voor scheijn is gecomen om deselve met die van Ceijlon gecombineert de reijs nae Patria aan te neemen, en aengesien d’ ordinarij tijt nu alsoo verre is door gebroocken, sonder aparentie dat de Bataviase scheepen sullen comen op te daegen, Soo is met eenparigheijt van stemmen goet gevonden de voorn. retourscheepen met de eerste goede wint haere reijse in Godes Naem nae ‘t Patria te laaten vervolgen, sonder haar langer nae die van Batavia op te houden.
