English translation

Pursuant to our resolution of the 17th of July, the galley Tulp is present with several gunwales in its stern and reinforced at the stem, etc., as well as being fitted with a newly made topmast, bowsprit, bulkhead, and other necessary items, therefore, in the opinion of the skipper and helmsmen, sufficiently strong and sufficient to make the voyage to Madagascar. Therefore, in accordance with the aforementioned resolution, it is understood that first the cargo prepared for that purpose should be shipped, consisting of various goods, a little thin, iser, loot, and some crammers, both from Comps. Warehouses, as if privately gathered, and to have requisitions made ready and victualed for 25 heads for 5 months, in order to be able to commence the voyage in the name of the Lord in the first day of the coming week, to continue this trade and under the administration of the sub-merchant Fredrick Verburgh, following the instructions to be devised and delivered for that purpose.

And also, in order to explore all the small rivers and bays on the aforementioned island, and to practice trade everywhere there, like the French do, a reasonably smooth-going vessel or barque was necessary for the aforementioned galley, which cannot easily be reached there from here; and the boat of the... galley for which is also too small, as well as to arrive at the island of Mauritius, since the chiefs there at the pass, in the hope of obtaining a yacht for the aforementioned trade from India, intended to establish a suitable vessel for that purpose, which will now mostly be perfect, or if not, some of their other vessels are suitable for that purpose and can be dispensed with, since at present only 30 Comp. servants have been ordered to reside there by the Honorable Mr. General and Council of India, and are therefore for their fishing, etc. Apparently, they won't need that many vessels, especially since no ebony will be chopped or harvested. It has also been approved to allow the aforementioned galley from here, adroicture206, to call at Mauritius, since it can't hinder the voyage to Madagascar at all, but is sufficient for the passenger to arrive there without causing any delay, so that, upon arrival, they can request the commander to enlarge such a vessel. To this end, the commander of this fortress will also write a letter of request to him, so that the commanders can be better prepared for this.

Thus done and resolved in the Fort of Good Hope on the date and year as above.
