In view of the accusations of the merchant Davidt Verdonc against the high boatswain Gerrit Jansz van Hasselt, as well as the aforementioned evidence and the same person's own voluntary confession, namely that he, having been accused of some wrongdoing, had said that the marriage of the merchant and with him had nothing to do with it, and other such insubordinate conduct, which was reported, it was decided by formal resolution to not initiate legal proceedings at the time, understanding that in order to prevent all disorder and to maintain proper discipline until the authorities are relieved of their responsibilities, to condemn the same. We hereby do the same, in a four-month amendment, to allocate his dues to the benefit of the E. Compe, provided, however, that we authorize the general shipping authority (as far as we are concerned) if the defendant, in accordance with the promises made, continues to contribute properly and appropriately to the aforementioned amount of mitigation or remission as may be deemed appropriate, based on the circumstances and the merits of the individual.
Thus done and resolved in the Fort of Good Hope on the date and year as above.
