English translation

While the meeting was in session in Raade, the renowned cool wine tapper Guillam Eems appeared,50 who, on behalf of his partners, named Jochum Marquart51, demonstrated how the Company had not been provided with Rinse of France wines for the entire past year, and consequently had not been able to enjoy them at all, to their remarkable praise, as they had to derive their principal profits from the aforementioned drinks to raise the rent. This was not entirely unfair, and they also requested that we not be held liable for the raising of the entire rent, and that, in all fairness, some reduction might accrue to them, while the Company. had been unable to fulfill her promises to accommodate her with those drinks. Therefore, after due deliberation, it was resolved and understood that this claim of the aforementioned cool wine tappers would be secured until the arrival of an expected Commissioner from India, in order to then be finally disposed of, keeping their claim, which they believe they have reserved for that period, provided that the aforementioned tenants will be obligated to pay the promised rent to the Company on an interim basis.

Furthermore, the aforementioned persons, being tenants of the Cape wine, requested in Council that they be paid £100 in compensation to the Rdrs. For each semi-denominational wine cultivated here, purchased by the E. Compe this year from private individuals, as stipulated in the contract entered into with the E. Compe on their behalf, each individual is held indiscriminately, without the E. Compe being excluded from it in any way. Therefore, it was agreed that the aforementioned tenants of the purchased wines should receive 1 Rdr. for each semi-denominational fine wine, to be accrued when the aforementioned lease is re-leased in November, approximately when the necessary pretexts were used.

Finally, citizen Tobias Marcquart,52 who had been responsible for the E. Compe's thorn mill, was also arrested. has accepted, by insinuating to the bailiff that, according to the terms agreed upon with the E. Compe, he will have to deliver tomorrow as much flour as the Compe is first required to bake bread for the garrison.

Thus done and resolved in the Castle of Good Hope, date 11 a.m.
