The Hr. Commander having demonstrated at the meeting how we had recently been sent off with the fluijtie Baaren, among other things a quantity of provisions and merchandise in the Fatherland for this residence, also a quantity of 50 barrels of haentjesbier, according to the fatherland invoice for this residence, consequently also landed here and in 's Comps. warehouse, and noting that on our petition filed last year to the fatherland only 20 barrels of such beer had been requisitioned, we initially thought that this had been done deliberately by Her Highness Ede in the Fatherland, in view of Her Highness Ede's apology for sending the Rinse and France wine requisitioned from here, as well as other native beers, and for that reason we had allocated to ourselves, in lieu of those drinks, a similar quantity of barrels of haentiesbier to serve as a supplement. However, upon closer consideration, it is noted that such a large quantity of that beer could not properly be consumed in situ for a considerable period of time, causing it to spoil, become sour, and otherwise become of inferior quality. Therefore, after the preceding deliberation, it is a sound understanding of the aforementioned 50 barrels of Haentjiesbier, with 20 stuccos to be sent to Batavia at the first convenient opportunity, notwithstanding that, due to extraordinary lack of patience, 11 stuccos were consumed on the entire batch with refills.
Thus done and resolved in the Castle of Good Hope, date 18.
