Having been informed by the chiefs of the Eegelenburgh fleet stationed here that due to the poor conditions and unloading of the aforementioned seabed in the homeland, with somewhat boisterous weather, not only could sail not be carried, but they were also constantly sailing underwater,18 not without the greatest peril and danger, primarily resulting in the masts being unloaded in the aforementioned seabed, and in which the main cargo consisted, being loaded underneath and on top of which a quantity of meat and speck barrels, which added the most weight, were placed. To remedy this to some extent, it was decided to sail into England in the dunes to remedy it there as much as possible, but nevertheless in the continuation of their journey, after a little or no improvement was heard there, and that due to this seriousness they had to depart from here in case of such weather, without first being unloaded of a consignment of meat and speck barrels. After deliberation by the Council, it was decided, since the ship Quartel is in compe. of the said ship's bottom and the ship Tidoor is about to depart for Batavia, that as much meat and speck barrels from the said ship will be transferred to the said ship as is deemed necessary to relieve the bottom and to prevent the feared dangers, so that we can reassure ourselves about this.
Thus done and resolved in the Castle of Good Hope, this date of the anthem.
