In response to the complaint filed by the skipper and crew of the ship Africa concerning the misconduct of the chief surgeon of the said ship, named Arent Dubbelaar, who, through daily misconduct, had allegedly caused the impotent individuals on board to take medications several times that were counterproductive to their illness, from which nothing but horrific accidents and much more serious damage could arise, it was absolutely necessary that such measures be taken. It was therefore deemed appropriate to take the aforementioned chief surgeon ashore here until the arrival of the daily expected Dutch ships, which would then be sent on to Batavia, the present shipmates of the same. The matter being so well known that all have unanimously requested permission to be excused from carrying it over.

Op de gedaane aanklagte van den schipper en ondercoopluijden van ‘t schip Africa over ‘t quaat comportement van den opperchirurgijn van gemelte bodem, genaamt Arent Dubbelaar, die door daagelijckse debauche hem soo verre soude vergrijpen dat de impotenten binnen ‘t scheepsboort verscheijde maalen medicamenten heeft doen innemen die haer sieckte contrarieert, waaruijt niet anders als affschuweIijcke ongevallen en een veell swaarder quaat kon ontstaan, sulckx ten hoogsten nodigh dat daarin wert voorsien, Soo is goetgevonden den gemelten opperchirurgijn alhier aan landt te nemen tot de komst van de daagelijckx verwaght werdende vaderlantse scheepen, waermede wijders na Batavia sall werden voortgesonden, de presente aenwesende scheepsvrunden desselfs comportement soodanigh bekent sijnde dat alle eenparigh hebben versoght om den selven over te voeren te mogen werden g’excuseert.
