English translation

A citizen and freesmith Joost Janse entered the meeting and requested that he be allowed to depart with the present return fleet to the Patria, further stating that his poor condition did not allow him to pay his board and transport money to the E. Compe. and that in addition he be allowed to earn his board by working on the ship, and in return to sail and embark freely without any further pretense, considering the same danger, for 18 years at this place as well as on the island of Mauritius in the service of the Comp. as he has continued in freedom154 and can certainly be missed here, especially since another smith has already been appointed in his place, so his request155 has been approved.

While the meeting was being held, citizen Jochem Ringel had informed him that he was unable to make a living here with his trade as a ditch maker, and that he was falling more and more into the greatest poverty. He therefore immediately requested permission to depart for Batavia with his family to earn his living there with permitted means. This was noted, and it was also considered that he had been given the option in the Fatherland to stay here or to continue to Batavia, but upon his arrival here he was detained because the ship in which he arrived had been used for the expedition to the island of St. Helena, in addition to that of the E. Compe. but is a burden, and the public derives no benefit from it at all, it has been agreed to grant his above request, provided that he must pay his debt to the Reverend Company before his departure from here.

Similarly, at the request of a certain freeman named Frans Jurge Dresser, he came with the return fleet from Batavia to stay here at his own expense until the arrival of the second shipment from Batavia, with which his wife is also expected, in order to then repatriate with her at the same time. He has been granted this, as the Reverend Company is indifferent to this.
