English translation

Since many fires are burning along the entire coast from here to the Bay of Saldanha and beyond, it is apparent that there are many inhabitants there, as the Hottentoos also make themselves known daily (being here with us) with good affirmation, and therefore tend to leave, it seems: to vacate the other place, which perhaps they have with them a lot of cattle and sheep. It is understood that the galley the Red Fox with the first good wind is after the common. to be taken from the bay of Saldanha, along with copper and tobacco, under the administration of the sub-merchant Fredrick Verburgh: to trade as many sheep as possible from the inhabitants there, and thus to simultaneously observe this trade both there and here, as well as the sheep181 being traded there, then, on the way back, to plant them on Robbeneyland, so that the island182 may eventually become so full that there will be little demand for cattle meat.

For this purpose, it has also been considered acceptable to provide copper and tobacco in abundance for the sheep, both there and here.

Remaining Municipality of Sr. Verburgh also recommends that the shipowner, in the ulterior, stop at Dasseneyland to properly assess the seal fishing situation there, and to establish such order as the Council will determine, primarily in the interest of the Royal Netherlands Navy.

It is also agreed to send the large boat along, in order to see if any trade is found there. Verburgh and seven other men will be left with him for the aforementioned cattle trade, and that the galley may first be sent back this way via the aforementioned Dasseneyland to bring over the seal skins in stock there, or otherwise, as determined by the Company. might require &a.

Thus done and resolved in the Fort of Good Hope on the date and year as above.
