As the ships Muijden and Weesp, along with the ships Ter Schellingh and Draeck that arrived here, sailed from Batavia to continue their journey together via this place to the homeland, have not yet appeared, but it is understood that they will have reached far and sailed further to St. Helena to await the others there, so that we are again frustrated by the horses and saddles we have brought with us and will be missing a great deal, since we need them for various things as much as bread in the mouth, primarily to fetch fuel from the forest with wagons, which is starting to become very scarce here and is in short supply. So our Council, reinforced by Vice Commander Huijbert Hugo and Merchant Willem Vockers, after careful deliberation, has agreed and understood to send the galley Tulp 175, with the Schellingh 176 and Draeck, in company, somewhat nearer to Ste. Helena: in order to capture the horses and saddles that had strayed from Muiden and Weesp and to transport them back there; as well as to use all possible diligence with the help of the people of these common return ships to also accommodate the horses set there in 1651 from the fleet of Mr. van Teijlingen178, in order to be of service here as well to the E. Compe. To be used, and so that the people might be all the more eager to capture it, it was also decided to place 6 or more 179 rixdollars as a token of appreciation on each horse received.
Thus done and resolved in the Fort of Good Hope, date as above.
