Attached by resolution dated 11 of this month our final decision of her Highness. to Batavia, the discovery of the island of Fernando de Noronha 52 compelled to give advice by one means or another, for reasons and motives deduced in passing, was sometimes kept in suspense and explored until after the expiration of the period of 14 days, which stipulated time had now already fully appeared, without, however, any ship or ships from the homeland having appeared. Thus, according to many preceding considerations and allegations on the matter serving the E.Compa, it has been deemed necessary and consequently hereby arrested the High Indian Government because of the condition and creation of the said island, with the addition of which to inform here as soon as possible by express mail, in order to inform Her Highness. nor before the departure of the first fleet of this year, should they have the capacity to take their noble measures accordingly, and that consequently, the corner of the Quartel, at least in the bay of False, will be constructed for the purpose of transporting this advice, as well as to avoid the slightest inconvenience that, in coming here by sea, a contrary wind might be encountered between the aforementioned Cape False and here, from there the journey to Batavia will be undertaken directly.

We have noticed that we daily hear various complaints about the theft and plundering of the renegade Hottenoots, who were released from prison a few months ago, and their accomplices who have come to commit the same acts against the citizens in the countryside.53 However, without any difficulty, this disastrous act has so far been stopped by some dispatcher, and to this end the nearest Hottentoes captains have been repeatedly summoned here to devise a means of capturing these robbers in the most expedient way, as this is not feasible for us without their help, but each time they return here, they claim this or that, but not with any specific pretext, Mostly out of fear of not being held hostage again, as last time, but being held in detention. It was therefore resolved to proceed beforehand to actual removal, to invite these brazen Africans here once again, in the most amicable way possible, and to make this all the more effective, to deputize two members of the Council, namely Lieutenant Jeronimus Cruse and sub-merchant Martinus van Banchem, who were also qualified to appear in the case of refusing, to make our intention known to them and, with this in mind, to consider how best and most surely to capture these aforementioned poachers.

At the request of citizen Cornelis Stevensz, he was granted permission to graze his flock of sheep behind the Steenbergh, at or near a certain location called the wine cellar, especially as this is not yet in any way a prejudgment of the E. Company, with the condition, however, that if the Company subsequently deems the grazing necessary for its livestock, he must cede part of it and find another place elsewhere.

Thus resolved at the Fort de Goede Hoop, date as above.
