‘I the undersigned Cnoet Wederman, lieutenant or bull-man in the service of His Royal Majesty of Denmark, on the Danish ship the Phenix, hereby acknowledge to have received from the Reverend Johan Bax of Herentals a packet with letters according to the superscription directed to the Reverend Lord Governor and Councillor over the territory and trade of the Dutch East India Company on the coast of Cormandel to Paleacatte 7, to be delivered to the first or nearest counter of the Dutch East India Company on the coast of Chormandel, which packet with letters I promise, by virtue of this, to deliver as per the superscription, if all goes well; I hereby declare that I have received all assistance, help, and civil remuneration from the aforementioned Reverend Governor, as I have also received all assistance from His Eminence in the service of His Royal Majesty of Denmark.

‘Ick ondergeschreve Cnoet Wederman, luijtenandt of stierman in dienst van sijn Coninglijcke Majesteijt van Deenmarken , op het Deense schip de Phenix bescheijden, bekenne mits desen van den E.Heer Johan Bax genaamt van Herentals ontfangen te hebben een pacquet met brieven volgens de superschriptie gedirigeert aan den E. Heer Gouverneur en Raadt over ‘t gebiet en den handel van de Nederlandsche g’octroijeerde Oost Indische Compa. op de cust Cormandel tot Paleacatte 7 om overgegeven te worden aan ‘t eerste off naast gelegenste comptoir van de Nederlandtsche Oostindische Compa. op de Cust van Chormandel , welck pacquet met brieven ick mits desen belove bij behouden varen, volgens de superschriptie wel te bestellen; verclare oock bij desen van den opgemelten E.Heer Gouverneur alle adsistentie en behulp en civil tractement te hebben genooten als sijnde mij oock van sijn E. alle assistentie ten dienste van sijn Coninglijcke Majesteijt van Deenemarken aan gepresenteert.’
