Extract from the resolution of the Honourable Governor and Council, issued on
Subject: Thus resolved and arrested in the Fort of Good Hope, date above.
And signed: Johan Bax, alias van Herentals, Hendrick Crudop, Dircq Jansz Smient, Thobias Vlasvath, Jan Wittebol, Jeronimus Cruse, Martinus van Banchem, Cornelis Cornelissen, Emanuel van Ceulen, Joannes Ravensbergh, Jacob Kroon.
We, under our signature, have delivered this aforementioned extract of the resolution and counter-protest to Danish Captain Antoni van Doorne and handed it over to him, after having previously read its contents to him. The captain of the Danish ship the Phenix was present, and the counter-protest against the authorities of the said ship was also read to him and handed over with the request that he also communicate it to the authorities of the said ship and have them read. This he accepted and promised to do.
At the Fort of Good Hope, April 20, 1678.

En was onderteijckent Johan Bax, genaemt van Herentals, Hendrick Crudop, Dircq Jansz Smient, Thobias Vlasvath, Jan Wittebol, Jeronimus Cruse, Martinus van Banchem, Cornelis Cornelissen, Emanuel van Ceulen, Joannes Ravensbergh, Jacob Kroon.
Door ons ondergeschreven is dese voorenstaande extract resolutie en contra protestatie aan den Deenschen capteijn Antoni van Doorne overgelevert en ter handt gestelt, nadat hem alvooren den inhoudt van dien was voorgelesen, sijnde den stierman van het Deensche schip de Phenix daar present die de contra protestatie tegens de overheden van [ge]melten bodem mede [w]iert voorgelesen en [h]em ter handen ge[s]telt met aansegging [d]at hij hetselve de [o]verheden van het [g]emelte schip mede soude [c]ommuniceeren [e]n laten lesen. [‘t] Welck hij aan nam en beloofde te doen.6
