After reading the sermon this morning, without the slightest hindrance, according to Christian custom, the third agreement was passed for the betrothed persons Pieter van Duyne, under-merchant born in Middelburg, presently present on the ship Henriette Louijse moored here, and Sebastiana van Opdorp, born in Cuylenborch, residing in this place, and it not having occurred to us that by what they might be delayed or hindered in their intention, the Council has granted permission, following our resolution of the 10th Passado, to allow the further solemnization of the marriage in the Name of the Lord to proceed, and to that end it was also found good on that everything might proceed lawfully, in good order, and to God's greatest glory, by having the aforementioned solemnization (as if without a minister) administered by the steward Roeloff de Man, Secret of our Council, for him and all the people in an open council chamber, as then, on the date after the end of Sunday Christian, the reading of the sermon in the Name of the Lord was publicly and lawfully performed and effectuated.
Thus done in the Fort of Good Hope, date above.
