English translation

The Noble Governor having summarized the matter contained in the secret letter of Our Lords Majors, dated September 4, 1676, and having read to the Council as far as the departure of the Batavian and Ceylon return ships is concerned, and having considered and observed everything, the Ceylon ships arrived successfully on March 27th and were already well and sufficiently refreshed, and had already delayed fruitlessly for the usual time after the desired Batavian ships, without them showing up to that date, nor receiving the slightest notice of them. It is, however, well-considered and understood in satisfaction of the aforementioned Her Noble, Esteemed Order. two bottoms to the 15th or 16th of this month, however, should still be retained in order to allow them (the Indian return bottoms appearing in the meantime) to be combined for greater certainty, or, if they do not appear within the above-estimated time, to make a further final decision on the matter.

Furthermore, the yacht Voorhoudt and the small corner ship Quartel, projected in the latest resolution of April 12th for the upcoming voyage to Augustijns Bay, and currently being occupied to receive their provisions and supplies, it was also agreed to allow costs to remain until the 15th of this month, in order to patiently see during that time whether the expected Dutch ships might come to shore us up with some Spanish coin (of which we have very sparse supply and are very useful for the aforementioned voyage), or whether any necessary order would serve us further on our way. The memoranda and other papers were read for the authorities of the aforementioned voyage by the Noble Governor de Raadt. being, and found to contain everything useful for this purpose, were also approved, and no further changes are desired.

Lastly, since Our Lord Majors, by letter dated September 28, 1675, authorized by the authority of the Honorable Governor Isbrandt Goske, sent by letter to capture the animals at the Gonnemaese River from our enemies in 1673 and 1674, and some of the free residents, etc., due to the lack of such livestock, to support them against 12 guilders. The piece was given in loan. It was unanimously agreed (in accordance with the order of Her Honor) that all those who have enjoyed the animals should be given to her in freehold and, in the name of the Honorable Majors, to allow her to keep them and to release her from further reminders, as well as to instruct the Honorable Administrator, Sr. Hendrick Crudop, to continue to write off the animals in question (not currently recorded in the books).

Thus resolved in the Fort of Good Hope on the day and year aforesaid.
