English translation
And also since the additional occurrence that the Saldanhars used to come here every year with their livestock might well happen, some had already appeared in or around the bay of Saldanha, and the note for the E. Compe is considered. to provide their incoming ships (which are often full of sick and miserable scurvy people) with adequate refreshment, special attention should be paid to the breeding of a quantity of sheep on Robben Island, where they not only grow more than ordinary, but also much better than here in the Taeffel Valley, therefore all possible diligence should be taken according to the opinion and well-established verbal order of my Lord Hulft162: in order to deal with the aforementioned fine and good portion of sheep. So, after proper deliberation of the matter, everything having been well considered, is largely in the service of the E. Compe. The aforementioned galyot (having unloaded the timber from Mauritius and re-ballasted it with fuel, water, etc., was also found good, so that it could depart the following week) was also nearly ready to sail with the first good wind to the aforementioned Bay of Saldanha, to also sell as many sheep there as possible, and to bring them to Robbeneyland on their return voyage, as possible, also ordering some rich copper and tobacco to be given in return, in order to acquire a large quantity.
Thus done and resolved at Fort de Goede Hoope on the date and year as mentioned above.
