English translation

Present omnibus and reinforced with the Reverend Gysbrecht, Commander David Strandtwijck, due to the return fleet stationed here.

Since the regular crew of the ship Sumatra, which arrived successively from the Netherlands on February 11th, has already arrived in good order, and is also ready to sail again, and has been refreshed as much as possible, we have decided (after taking our resumption) not to hold on to this without success, but to depart the same the day after tomorrow, being Saturday, the 27th of this month, for their Ede. to not only have the aforementioned vessels delivered to Batavia a little early (for forwarding, as usual), but also (to the attention of the Honourable Gysbert de David Strandtwijck), Commander of the present return fleet stationed here, to inform the Honourable Lord Governor in a written memorandum what is absolutely necessary for the return ships and to indicate in this regard what is still required by the remaining flute ships Wester-Amstel and Soestdijck, so that, for the most part, the services of the Honourable Company were also provided. It was understood (in order to help the aforementioned return fleet out of its embarrassment as much as possible) that the ships from Sumatra, as mentioned above, should have such needs as are listed below, namely…110

It was also considered good and very useful to equip the ships Rammekens and 't Huijs te Velsen for Ceylon and arrive here safely on the 12th and 18th of this month. To hold the ship for a few more days, hoping that the expected Ceylon return ships will, with God's help, arrive sooner rather than later, so that the Ceylonian ships can be better informed of their fate and arrival (to the Company's satisfaction).

Finally, as the merchant …112 Focquenier on the ship Velsen lodged many complaints with the Honourable Governor as Honourable Commander about its skipper, Hendricq Bommer, alleging that he had been acting excessively and improperly (during the voyage), the Honourable Governor and Council (in order to ensure general peace and the common good of the Company's property and ship)114 also decided to make a serious inquiry and, based on their experience, to rectify the matter.

Thus resolved in the Fort de Goede Hoop on the date and year as above.
