Presentibus omnibus.
In this Council, it has been decided, with the consent of the Honourable Governor Isbrand Goske, that this coming Friday, March 13th, Mr. Johan Bax of Herentals will be presented and inaugurated as Governor here with due solemnities.
And furthermore, by resolution of March 2nd, it was decided to send the yacht "Voorhoud" (Provided) for the purchase of slaves from here to Madagascar, and for this purpose the necessary Spanish reais were not found in the cash register here. It has therefore been resolved to levy 2,000 dos. from the ship Silversteijn, moored here, with the understanding that an equivalent payment will be refunded to the same ship from the cash register here.
It was further resolved, and at the suggestion of Mr. Governor Goske, to send the ship Sparendam, which was expected here from Seylon with rice, having arrived here and been unloaded of its cargo, to Mauritius to fetch from there a good quantity of lime, essential for the construction of the new fortress. It was noted that, due to a shortage of firewood and shells, it was not possible to burn enough lime here to continue the fortification work any longer.
Thus resolved at the Fort de Goede Hoop on the date and year as above, and was signed N. VERBURCH & co.

In desen Raadt is verstaan, met toestemminge van den E. Hr. Gouverneur Isbrand Goske, dat Vrijdagh aanstaande, wesende den 13en Maert, den Hr. Johan Bax van Herentals met de behoorlijcke solemniteijten als Gouverneur alhier zal werden voorgestelt, ende geintroduceert.
Ende naedemael bij resolutie van den 2en Maert zij vast gestelt het Jaghtjen Voorhoudt tot incoop van slaven van hier naer Madagaskar te senden, ende tot dien eijnde de noodige Spaanse realen alhier in cassa niet werden bevonden, Soo is geresolveert uijt het alhier ter rhede leggende schip Silversteijn 2000 dos. te lighten, wel verstaande dat alhier uijt de cassa een equivalent paijement aan ‘t selve schip zal werden gerestitueert.
Wijders is geresolveert, en op de voorstellinge van d’ Hr. Gouverneur Goske vast gestelt, ‘t schip Sparendam dat hier van Seijlon met rijs verwaght werdt, alhier aangekomen, en van sijn ladinge ontlast zijnde, naer Mauritius te senden, om van daar een goede quantiteijt calck, tot den opbouw van de nieuwe fortresse ten hooghsten noodigh, te gaen halen, gemerckt niet wel mogelijck zij, door manquement van brandthout en schulpen alhier soo veel calck te konnen branden, dat het werck van de fortificatie daer mede langer can gaande gehouden werden.
Aldus geresolveert in ‘t Fort de Goede Hoop ten dage en jaare als boven, ende was geteeckent N. VERBURCH &a.
