By the chiefs of the present Danish ship Oldenburg, since her arrival from Mauritius Island, the desolate constitution of their ship has been presented to the Lord Governor at several conferences, and in addition they have immediately requested that we would accommodate her with some material, provisions & such for the restoration of their aforementioned ship against grateful payment in the homeland or in Batavia; that however, by the aforesaid His E. has declined from time to time and has been excused on his own grounds, having now at last shown the impossibility of their departure from here, especially in the event that a quantity of six loads of rice could not be provided for their expenses, and without which assistance no one could see that the journey could be undertaken, but would be forced to remain here until the arrival of one of their ships from Denmark, to no small detriment and disadvantage of His Majesty. So finally, in order to get rid of these foreign guests, it has been approved and understood that the aforementioned chiefs, in place of the requested six Charges of rice, to be accommodated by three, provided that they are sold here at the price paid by the Company, and that for the amount of that charge, as well as for three other charges issued to Mauritius by Commander Hugo, they will have to submit two or more letters of injunction to reimburse the contents of that charge, either in Batavia or in the Netherlands, to the Company at their expense.
Thus arrested at the Fort de Goede Hoop, date as above.
