Noted, Your Honor. The Lords, 17 and in their latest general letter dated 13 October of the past year,41 had likewise expressed their displeasure, among other things, about the frugal conduct of the chiefs of the corner of Grundel, in sending from here to the east by abandoning 17 souls in the bay of Os medos de Cura, done two years ago, and therefore pleased to mention, that if an opportunity arose, that voyage should be resumed again, And considering that the Council's contempt and intention had been, Commander Hubert Hugo, in his own paresse, to avoid duplicative troubles and expenses for the E. Compe. to arrange to go there, to conduct this research in his journey from here along and between this coast and Madagascar door, to D' Majottes and Mauritius, to take by hand, as several conferences have also been held for this purpose; than the late His E. sustained, that the late arrival of the monsoon would be detrimental and inconvenient for him on the further voyage, so that concept had to be abandoned, and it was consequently resolved to appropriate the moored flute vessel d'Vliegende Swaen for that voyage,43 and to victual it before the time of 4/m, together with a cargo of several small merchants at a cost of ƒ2131.8: to be furnished in case this third investigation should be more favorable than the previous one, and such a piece of44 trade should come to light, so that could be employed45 for that purpose, that the voyage over Os Medaos Cura agua da Boa, and C. de Corentes to under the tropicus Capricorni, or in case of good luck, to Coffala, for example. Os Medaos once again carried out the inquisition and exact investigation46 into the 17 souls of the farmer d' Grundel there, and also in the negotiation or slave trade for the E. Compe. in these regions, for whatever might be necessary,47 for which purpose, also from there, will depart Sargeant Hans Michael Calmbach, an expert traveler and a person of observation and knowledge,48 along with six other good, energetic soldiers, to ensure that everything is handled with greater security when visiting certain places; in accordance with the instructions that are being drafted for the ship's chiefs on this matter.

And although, Your Honor, in their previous general letter dated 13th May last, among other things, they also instructed us to make a second voyage to Grundelsbhaij, situated to the north of this Cape at a height of 26 degrees … mten.49 for further exploration, as we also went there from time to time in our speculations, in order to use one or the other corner for this purpose, but considered that the Goudtvinck with rice arrived from Batavia for this place, necessarily had to be set off for the island of Mauritius, with provisions for the settlements there, and the corner tench also destined thither from there, but up to that date it had not yet appeared, also in the meantime the right The monsoon has passed, except that the thief, the Lijster, was deemed unsuitable for such a journey, and the Swaentje, as is said, was sent to the east. It was therefore decided in Council to postpone the dispatch for this time and to find a better opportunity next year.

Thus arrested in the Fortress of Good Hope on the day and year mentioned above.
