Instructions for the outposts of the Ruitterstal, Kijckuijt, Keer de Koe, and others, according to which they must regulate.35

1.

The corporal of the Ruitterstal will inspect the roundabouts twice a week and demand an account of what has passed there, as well as of the things that were shot. The riders will bring any shots or prisoners to the corporal, who will then have them brought to the fort here, at least twice a week, depending on their use.

2.

No one, whether corporals, horsemen, or anyone else, shall be able to sell, give away, or bring anything elsewhere than in the house of the chief here, on penalty of one month's wages, which the fiscal will also carefully consider, and will be punished depending on the case, who allows any wagons or vessels to pass by, day or night, without permission.

3.

Anyone who is absent from their usual posts at night without permission, whether at the fort, inns, or other private houses, shall be punished in accordance with the article.

4.

The corporal will, as a rule, report to the fort once every week on what has happened, but in the event of an exceptional incident, he will not be bound by a time limit, as the other corporals are also required to do, but this may happen both day and night, on penalty of his weekly allowance.

5.

Neither the corporal nor any of the riders will be able to take their horses out for a ride, tie them up here or there, and then go to the inn, or stay at feasts for whole or half days or nights, where the horses are often deprived of their food. However, when reports are made, or rations are collected, and they are prevented for good reason, they will be able to bring their horses to the Comp's stable to be fed there, but will always make sure to be back at their posts when the sun shines; on penalty of one month's wages as above.

In the Fort of Good Hope, this 1st of June, 39th, 1672.
