On today, May 4, 1672, it was agreed between us Johan Coon, Pieter de Neijn, and Willem van Dieden, as commissioners on behalf of the President and the Council of this fortress, as well as Wouter Mostaert and Dirck Janssen Smient, as Citizen Councilors, on the other hand, in the presence and with the full consent of the respective citizens present, that the aforementioned citizens, for the service of the E. Compe. for the construction of the new fortress, will daily provide two wagons, each equipped with two pairs of oxen, and with these will be driven six loads of stones, for three guilders and fifteen stuivers a day, in addition to half a pound of speck and a pound of bread from the Compe. To be delivered, provided that the aforementioned freemen, like the Comptroller's officials, will use a large and sturdy wagon, which will be accompanied by other, yoked animals of each other as and when necessary. Furthermore, if the Comptroller's business so requires and the aforementioned citizens' circumstances permit, more wagons may be deployed under the same conditions.
The aforementioned date, year, and place are hereby approved.
