In deliberation, and noting that Their Honor the Gentlemen 17th, by the same general letter of the 15th of May, have kindly requested us, among other things, to write to them explaining how they had resolved to further extrude the new fortress they had begun, and were accordingly instructed to make all preparations for this, as well as to bring the requisitions to the works, in order to be able to continue the work in accordance with the aforementioned orders to be given to Their Honor at a later date, also to deploy the workers for their extraordinary service, as is customary, in the construction of the aforementioned. having been in the fortress, with some daily wages to be honored, and considering that we have now been given full authority and commission by Dutch ships on the 11th, 12th, and 14th of this month, having already arrived here by letter dated September 5th, for the effective construction of the said fortress, and the order given by the Reverend Hr. Goske to the late Hr. Commander Hackius on his departure for the Fatherland, in consideration of this work was far from completed, nor was the new fortification brought to such a stately appearance as it should have been in accordance with the proposed order.

In accordance with the common advice of the present Council, it has been decided and determined that on Monday coming, all powers should be given to begin the aforementioned new work, and that, in principle, first work should be done on its westernmost point, and that the curtains should already be raised so high above the foundations, and that in compliance with the order of Mr. Governor Goske, given last year, this[s]82 would bring the same castle into a defensive position all the sooner. To this end, and to rouse the workers to all vigilance, also the usual extraordinary wages. In accordance with the aforementioned. The aforementioned letters from the fatherland will be distributed to them, namely, 2 dubbelties or 5 light stivers to the common soldiers, and 3 heavy dubbelties per day to the corporals and sergeants, taking into account the same. Sr. Joannes Coon and Joan Wittebol are also authorized to attempt to confer with some of the most wealthy freemen the following day and to reach an agreement with them regarding the cutting and transporting of clip stones and other similar materials required for the aforementioned extrusion. A report of this will be made in due course in Council, after which further deliberation will take place.
