The assistant Jan Valkenrijk, formerly clerk at the commission of the merchant de Cretzer, who, after his own accident, took up the trading books and accepted to settle them up to the end of July, examined the aforementioned subject, declares that the aforementioned books are as yet no further advanced than up to the end of March, in connection with the aforementioned late Commander, due to the continuing indisposition, the summary of the monthly reckoning. The cash register, shop, and dispensary, along with those of the foremen, armory, etc., had been postponed from time to time until the passing of the latter, but he accepts and promises, if all the related accounts are subsequently collected, to have the aforementioned books ready by the end of July by the end of January.63
The deputy merchant Daniël Froijmanteau, acting as provisional administrator and bookkeeper of the E. Hr. Commandeur, located here on land, undertakes to continue the aforementioned books, having been settled at the aforementioned Valckenrijck, without delay, and to properly account for them in his administration.
The sub-merchant, Hendrick Crudop, who, in addition to acting as Secretary and keeping the cash register, also holds at least the tax office, undertakes to have not only all papers and documents concerning the Secretary, but also his cash register and anything attached to it, properly registered and ready up to the end of December, by the end of January 1672, so that it can be sent with the return fleet to the Fatherland. Likewise, the garrison bookkeeper and provisional dispenser Willem van Dieden, as well as the shopkeeper Jan Wittebol, accept and promise to have their respective garrison, dispensation, and shop books, formally updated and ready for their accountability, without any fault, by the aforementioned time, until the end of this current year.
The Council has subsequently understood that they should sign this certificate.

Den adsistent Jan Valkenrijk, eertijts gewesen clercq ten comtoire van den coopman de Cretzer, die nae desselffs ongevall, de negotieboeken aengevaert en tot ulto. Julij aangenomen heeft te vereffenen, op ‘t voorste subject g’examineert, verclaert, dat gemelde boeken voor als noch niet verder g’advanceert zijn als tot ulto. Maert, ter oirsaeke meergemelde Hr. Commandeur zaliger door de continuele indispositie het resumeren der maandelijxe reecq. van de cassa, winckel en dispens, nevens die van de werckbaesen, wapencamer &a. van tijt tot tijt uijtgestelt gehadt, totdat middeler wijle is comen t’ overlijden, doch neemt aen en belooft, bij aldien hem voortaen alle reecq. daeraen dependerende wierden opgebragt, tegens ulto. Januarij toecomende voors. boecken tot den laesten van de mt. Julij gereet te hebben.63

Den ondercoopman Hendrick Crudop dewelcke benevens het waernemen der Secretarie, en ‘t houden van de cassa, oock althans het fiscaalsampt becleedt, neemt aen, niet alleenigh alle papieren en schrifturen de Secretarie raekende, maer oock zijn cassa-boeck, en wat daeraen kleeft, tot ulto. Decembris inclusive, tegens ‘t eijnde van de mt. Januarij 167264 behoorlijke ingeschreven en in gereetheijt te hebben, omme met de retourvloot nae ‘t Patria versonden tecunnen65 werden.
Gelijck mede den guarnisoenboeckhouder en provisionelen dispencier Willem van Dieden, mitsgaeders den winckelier Jan Wittebol aannemen ende beloven, hunne guarnisoen-, dispens- ende winckelboecken respective, sonder faulte tegens opgemelde tijt tot het eijnde deses lopenden jaars formelijck effen gestelt, en tot haere verantwoordinge gereet te hebben.
Welcken volgende bij den Raad is verstaan, dat zij desen des t’ oirconde souden hebben t’ onderteijkenen.
Gedaan ter gemelder vergaederinge in de Fortresse de GoedeHoope66 datum uts.
