Since the Council here is very weak and, as it currently only consists of three votes, to strengthen it with the sub-merchant Hendrick Crudop,57 and, in addition, to occasionally hire the bookkeeper, Willem van Dieden, to help decide all matters arising with more mature and broad support for the common good and prosperity of this residence. Furthermore, that all the Comps. Ministers in loco will be and remain in such positions and positions as those held by the aforementioned Commander Hackius, in his later years, and each must respond to his own; however, without knowingly infringing upon another's office.
That the highest authority over the militia and its related matters will remain the prerogative of Lieutenant Sr. Coenraad van Breitenbach, who will give the word in the evening and take the keys of the fortress into custody, will also first report all extraordinary incidents, and afterwards, the matters in Rade (if such time and opportunity should become necessary) will be summoned immediately, or presented daily at the usual time, for public discussion there, and then further disposition will be made with common advice.
And also the inspection and measurement of a certain place called Hottentoos Holland, located approximately 10 hours from here, for the sake of the deceased Mr. The late Commander's continued indisposition has not yet been undertaken, especially since His E. has had such surveys conducted from time to time on his own personal visit. It is understood that the aforementioned Lt. Breitenbach, together with the land surveyor Mr. Wittebol59 and some other capable people, having knowledge of the situation and cultivation of the lands, will have to transport the first there, and to inspect the lands, in order to be able to properly serve both Her Honor in the Country and the expected Mr. Commissioner in this regard. Which Sr. Breitenbach, among others, will have to abandon his speculations there at the place in Bhaij Falso, where the flute Ijselsteijn was moored as recently as June, in order to understand our possession in Batavia, according to the last letter from Her Honor.
All orders regarding the distributions that were usually issued continuously from the Company's warehouses, packing houses, cash register, and shop under the authority of Her Majesty. The late commander's own paraphernalia or cachet will henceforth be directed in the following manner: namely, the distribution of pack goods and manufactured goods, as well as equipment, ammunition of war, and similar effects, however minor they may be, according to the order of Mr. Commissioner Goske, directly to the junior merchant Sr. Daniel Froijmanteau, who at least holds the position of administrator, and from him to his junior attendants as constabulary, chief carpenter, and others of that nature, and by Lt. Sr. Johannes Coon, and junior merchant Hendrik Crudop, as reviewed, signed.
As well as the distributions to the cashier, shopkeeper, and dispensary, by Lt. Sr. Breitenbach and sub-coopman Daniel Froijmanteau passed and signed, who were also authorized for the monthly report. of the cash register, dispensary, and others that do not depend on the administrator, to then be booked by the negotiation, but those who derive from the administration in essence, such as from the team, carpenters, smiths and weapons cameras, will be passed through the SSRS. Coon and Crudop were anxious to find out for themselves if they were then booked by the negotiating party.60 Likewise, the guarantor and bookkeeper and dispenser Willem van Dieden was authorized to send me communications from the sub-coopman Froijmanteau as administrator.
To arrange for the provision of refreshments from the garden and supplies to the aldermen and the hospital as usual, but if anything extraordinary arises, this will be required to be announced in Rade each evening. The dispensary will also have to deliver the keys of the warehouses he sorts under his control to the aforementioned Froijmanteau every evening, and to reclaim them if necessary.
The first keys to the Company's money chests, which have so far been in the possession of the Reverend Commander (and of which the second has the cashier in disregard), will be given to the Lt. Sr. Breitenbach were extradited, and the cashier was required to provide funds, which may be extracted from the receipts before the commissioners.
The office of his late E., where the papers and all other documents, along with the cash (except the cash register), are kept in various cash boxes, will be locked and sealed, and the key will be handed over to the Secretary, who may also open it with the consent of the Council.
And since it would take far too long to devise a positive written order or regulation on everything concerning this, we will first let this draft be of the utmost importance to us, as its implementation is the most important, and furthermore we will always seriously recommend and insist on all other attendants and those who have any authority under them, in order to ensure with all vigor the true service of the E. Compe. to be increasingly put forward, and everyone, in his behalf, is recommended to him, to acquit themselves as an upright and faithful servant of God and law allows and befits, so that the counter-venturers and delinquents will, without any hindrance or complacency, incur the greatest indictment, and will be denied all excuses, for which in due time they will be corrected and punished according to their merits.
Thus resolved and arrested in the Fortress of Good Hope on the day and year before.
