English translation

Citizens Matthijs Cooijmans and Jochem Marquaert informed us that they, with the consent and permission of the Council, had agreed to transport their possessions and goods to this location in good faith, thus declaring the aforementioned Marquaert, under strict conditions, the owner of Cooijmans' goods, and Cooijmans, in turn, the owner of Marquaert's goods. Furthermore, since their two respective residences, specifically included here, were endowed with special privileges, namely, this one with the benefit of the brandy tap, and the other with the privilege of Spanish wines, along with entire registers from the E. Compe. to buy and to peddle it again in large quantities for light money, in accordance with the patents graciously granted to them by the presence of the Noble Commissioner van den Brouck and the Council; therefore, they very humbly requested of us that these privileges might continue to exist at their old places of residence and be granted alternatively to the new possessors. Thus, the Council, having deliberated on this matter, approved its petitioners' request based on specific reasons and granted it as follows:

Citizen Jochem Marquaert is now granted a license to accept the goods, and specifically the residence of Matthijs Cooijmans, located here under this fortress, where he may conduct the sale of Spanish wines, in return for the purpose of conducting such business as the privilege granted to Cooijmans more broadly dictates, and furthermore, as such trafficking and trading is generally permitted and free for any of these residents.

The citizen Matthijs Cooijmans is hereby also permitted, in accordance with the patent given to Jochem Marquaert, to accept his former goods, and especially the residence near 's E. Comps. house, called Rustenburgh, located behind the Windberg, to be permitted there, in mutual consent, to exercise the tapping of brandy, as and as is circumstantially included in the benefice granted to him by Marquaert. And although the aforementioned Cooijmans has also agreed to retain his privilege of breadmaking, provided that the bread is brought to the market here daily, it will nevertheless remain subject to such placards125 as have been emanated herein in respect of the grain deliveries harvested from the freehold lands, against which the E. Compe. will successively accommodate him with grain, as appropriate, for the maintenance of his bakery.

Thus arrested and granted in the meeting of July 7th. 1670 and subscribed by order of the Honourable Commander and the preceding Council.
