E. Matheus van den Broeck, Councillor of India, having arrived here on the 9th of this month as Admiral of this year's return ships and Commissioner of this residence, and having today, with the accompanying Councillors, fortified the Council of this fortress, Luijdia de Pape, wife of the suspended sub-merchant Hendrick Lacus, appeared in the evening meeting. She submitted a written supplication, in which she humbly pleaded that the matter of her aforementioned husband (presently in custody on Robben Island for his frauds) might be brought to a close and further graciously brought to a close.

And in view of the fact that Their Honor, the Lords Superiors, by their esteemed letters from the esteemed meeting of the 17th in Amsterdam, dated 9 May and 24 August,3 have kindly requested that such be placed at the disposal of the Council in this place, His Honor, in order to bring this process to an end (before communication and with the consent of the Council), has ordered that the aforementioned Lacus be brought here from the island,4 when he will be presented with the papers ordered by the fiscal officer at his expense, as well as the required documents to respond to them, in order that, having seen what can be brought to his relief, he may decree such matters in this matter as they deem appropriate in their own experience.

Likewise, approximately ten loads of tin from the Company were seized from the ship "Hollantsen Thuijn" (Dutch Thuin) to be shipped back to the Wapen van Middelburgh at the earnest request of the chiefs, given that it was found to be very weak and that it is believed that this will enable it to be strengthened to some extent, especially since the aforementioned tin can easily be spared and, if readily available, can be shipped and taken with minimal difficulty (without breaking the load).

Thus done and resolved at Fort de Goede Hoope, on the day and year aforesaid.
