English translation

Noting the departure of the small yacht the Voerman, which in place of the late Leepelaer, passed over there in the resolution dated 15th July, for the necessary provisioning of the Mauritian settlements in the month of August, we had to send there some time ago a suitable small ship or boat to use here for the service of the E. Compe. had not been provided. So we thought it best to depart for the first time for this purpose the first incoming small ship, and consequently the small boat the Voorn, which appeared from the Patria on the 16th of last month, and in that way to sail the same bottom on the last. with timber (which our small ships could not transport) to erect a very necessary sheepfold, sent to Dassen Island, with orders to return as soon as possible, which then, due to the contrary wind, had not employed all means and seamanship, did not arrive here again until the 14th of this month, and after the aforementioned cornerman had also planned to moor to the east of this cape for further discovery of the situation of its quarters, according to the intention and order of our Lord Majores, we have, from the written advice of the skipper of the aforementioned cornerman, who in the year 1664 with the whistle 't Moorhen a similar who has attended the setting out, noted that at this time of year completely opposite winds blow here east of the coast, against which no one can come anywhere; It has also been pointed out to us, in the surviving proposal of Sergiant Jeronimus Croese, who was sent out last year with the yacht De Voerman to the aforementioned end, that it is now too late in the monsoon, and that this dispatch could be resumed much more expeditiously and with less fuss over the country road. Consequently, after various debates on this matter, as well as good and mature deliberation, we have finally resolved and established that the aforementioned Hoecker de Voorn should be extended from here to India again, and that this journey overland should be made with Sergiant Jeronimus Croese, for instance. Twenty-five of our 112 regular volunteer travelers, in the name of the Lord, will undertake this as soon as possible before the three-month deadline, and, having been equipped with regular merchants for the cattle trade and other necessities, will undertake the aforementioned journey, trusting that this journey, should it succeed and Her Noble Right Eye be successful, will be achieved here. Therefore, God Almighty will be pleased to grant His gracious blessings.

Thus done and resolved, at the Fort of Good Hope on the day and year aforesaid.
