English translation

The Commander and Council of this fortress, assembled in Council to deliberate about the possession of the island of Mauritius, and the care of the inhabitants there; noting that the boat Lepelaar, guided on this journey with all due diligence, has been abandoned by some traitorous scoundrels and has frustrated us in our good intentions, we are also concerned about this: that the aforementioned that traitors with the name Lepelaartie might have set their course (as being inclined to more evil) to the island of Mauritius, and made themselves masters of it either by cunning or by force, has been considered with mature advice in Rade, whether our yacht the Voerman might also be deemed fit for such sending in order to do so more than once. island and to secure ourselves with it, considering that the ships which are constantly expected from here from the fatherland continue to delay for so long, and we thereby would be able to protect ourselves from the thriving and settlements there, from a certain course, due to the passing of the monsoon, but as there is still a difficulty regarding the Voerman's shipments towards the west on both sides, and nevertheless the matter regarding the monsoon cannot suffer any further delay, so after the matter has been thoroughly considered and the sea experienced people have been examined on it, we have finally concluded that after 6 to 8 days' waiting for fatherland ships and the same not appearing here, the urgent request of the Voerman, which has been made several times, is to have it cleared and sent to Mauritius to save our own state and the inhabitants there from harm, with confidence that we will be so entrusted here as the true service of the E. Comp. will require.

Thus done and resolved at Fort de Goede Hoope on the day and year aforesaid.
