Noting that the right time for the expedition to the island of Mauritius is approaching and that this must be observed, the Commander, in the usual evening meeting, proposed to the Council that it was inadvisable to send the small boat, the Lepelaar, loaded with provisions and materials, according to usual custom, not only to provision the settlers for another year and to relieve some of them of their time commitments, or perhaps to induce a new banishment through a reasonable improvement, but also to arrive in a more timely manner with the felled ebony and amber, against the approaching return fleet. This matter, having been thoroughly debated and considered in Council, was unanimously resolved and decided upon the aforementioned base, of everything for the said island, and for the voyage. necessary to prepare as soon as possible and with all possible haste, in order to undertake the journey there in God's name no later than the 26th of this month, the skipper being instructed to properly provide everything the ship might need for this voyage, in order to be provided with it in due time as required, as well as everyone from the Council to regulate themselves in this regard afterwards.
Thus done and resolved in the Fort of Good Hope on the day and year aforesaid.
